Shilton Sharpe Quarry (‘SSQ’), the market leading legal search and recruitment consultancy, supports charities FareShare and Work and Play and Scrapstore London as part of their UK CSR initiatives.
These not-for-profit organisations encourage and facilitate the reuse of food and materials for environmental and community benefit.
FareShare save good food destined for waste and send it to other charities and community groups across the UK. These charities then group and transform the food into nutritious meals for vulnerable people. The food they redistribute is fresh, quality and in date surplus donated from the food industry.
Work and Play Scrapstore is a charity that supplies donated clean and re-useable surplus/waste materials otherwise destined for incineration, landfill or long-term storage to a wide range of groups such as schools, charities, community groups, arts organisations, students and families. Materials include clothes, bed sheets, kitchen utensils and appliances, soft furnishing, craft items and toys. SSQ will be working with these two charities on a fortnightly basis from October until the New Year. On each day a small group of SSQ staff will spend the day with one of the charities, helping them collate and distribute their products. This programme allows all employees at SSQ in London to take part in one day out of the office and give something back to the community.
