The China domestic legal market is quite busy this summer with about 30 lateral partner moves recorded in July, almost all of them involving PRC law firms – with no international firms making any investment at partner level. In addition, PRC firms continue to expand in China and overseas – DeHeng, Jingsh and Yingke set up new offices in Laos (Vietnam), Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Bangkok (Thaliand); AllBright, KWM and ZhongYin newly entered Kunming, Changchun and Shijiazhuang, respectively.
Hong Kong SAR and Singapore lateral market are relatively quiet with only 3 and 6 partner moves recorded respectively – and almost all these hires happened in relation to US and UK law firms. Sydney continues to be very vibrant, with a dozen lateral hires made in July by a mixture of international, regional, and local firms.
