The Chinese domestic market has been busy in June for both local PRC law firms and international firms. Almost 30 lateral partner moves have taken place within the mainland of China – mainly in Beijing and Shanghai, but also in Shenzhen, Tianjin, Xiamen, Qingdao and Hangzhou. A few PRC law firms, including Haiwen, Merits & Tree and Hui Ye, hired notable teams or multiple partners in different city locations. Two of the Red Circle Chinese law firms Jun He and Fangda announced their annual round of partner promotions – each making up about a dozen partners, which signifies the non-stop growth trend of the major PRC firms.
Another interesting and positive development in the China market, the China Ministry of Justice has approved 5 new foreign law firm offices, which includes Holman Fenwick and Morgan Lewis’ brand-new Shenzhen branches.
