Dear All,

Most activity in Asia legal market last month were driven by regional PRC law firms who hired almost twenty new partners and launched 5 brand-new branches in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, as well as some 2nd/3rd tier cities such as Nanchang, Suzhou, Chongqing and Fuzhou.

The Hong Kong market remains very active in October, recording a total of 10 lateral partner hires made by international law firms such as Hill Dickinson, Clyde, Appleby, CMS, Goodwin Procter and Eversheds Sutherland. Singapore and Tokyo seem to be keeping pace, recording 6 and 4 prominent partner hires by major law firms, respectively.

The Indian market is particularly busy, especially in Delhi where 7 new partners moved into major local and regional law firms last month. Baker McKenzie is setting up a JV in South Korea to practice local law, which is also worth noting.
