Singapore and India made the biggest impact in the Asia legal lateral market last month – with almost 20 partner moves recorded across those jurisdictions. Two new foreign firms, one from Portugal and one from South Korea, set up new offices in the Singapore market, while Chinese law firms continued to expand domestically, as well as tapping into new Asia markets (Allbright having launched in Tokyo, and DeHeng in Seoul).
Last month also saw a wave of new partner promotions from major international law firms including Skadden, Freshfields, Ashurst, Herbert Smith Freehills, Clifford Chance, Eversheds Sutherland and DLA Piper. Among the total of 39 newly promoted partners, 6 are in HK, 4 in Singapore, 4 in Tokyo and the rest in Australia.
