The Fundación Aranzadi LA LEY ‘s 2026 Innovation and Trends Report was launched on 19 February, sponsored by Santander and analysing the movements that are reshaping the practice of law in Spain and across the world.
I have actively participated in the preparation of the report, contributing to a reflection that I consider key to the future of the sector. Specifically, how a new law firm global elite is being forged from the NY-London axis – something that clearly affects the business of law firms in Spain as well. It is the end of the weight of tradition in law firms, of the legal aristocracy, in the face of the new power, private capital and meritocracy, which are redefining the legal world.
On the other hand, the debate no longer revolves around whether we should use Artificial Intelligence, but rather how to integrate it strategically to generate real value, without weakening the technical rigour, the legal criteria and the principles that sustain the rule of law. Technology is a tool. And the real differential is still human.
